Celebrate the 2021 London Marathon in style with these sweet new duds from New Balance.
Wolf3D’s free-to-use 3D avatar creator Ready Player Me is moving at a rapid pace. Over the past several months the company has partnered with numerous organizations to expand its creator platform with additional features and clothing options.
This past August, for example, Ready Player Me teamed up with fashion house RTFKT to offer a new line of over-the-top VR outfits. Shortly thereafter, the company announced a partnership with VR platform SideQuest, introducing official compatibility with a wide range of indie VR games and apps in the process.
Today, the company announced another partnership with the popular sports footwear brand New Balance to further expand its catalog of VR clothing. Inspired by the upcoming 2021 London Marathon, Ready Player Me users can now access three new exclusive outfits, each more colorful than the last. This, of course, includes several pairs of killer New Balance sneaks. In addition to your own avatar, you can also customize a 3D model of Team New Balance Manchester athlete, Jonny Mellor.
“We wanted to create additional and meaningful avatars based on iconic brands, and we believe athletic shoes from New Balance would be impactful”, said Ready Player Me CEO Timmu Toke in an official release. “With the importance of health and wellness in mind, we felt the London marathon would be the perfect place to feature our partnership with New Balance.”
To access these new clothing options, you’ll need to visit New Balance’s new web-based experience, which was developed in partnership with online retailer sportsshoes.com. Once you’ve loaded into the world, click on the interactive button adjacent to the Mellor avatar. Here you can create a new avatar or edit your existing model.
“As the retail industry continues to digitalize and evolve, it is important for marketers and brands to continue to innovate and develop the way in which they engage and speak with their audiences, said Bradley Howarth, Associate Trade Marketing Manager at New Balance.
“In partnership with online retailer sportsshoes.com we wanted to create a virtual shopping experience focused around New Balance’s official footwear and apparel sponsorship of the Virgin Money London Marathon – ‘New Balance London Square,’” added Howarth.
“WOLF3D and their digital avatar solution felt like a perfect partnership to help bring to life elements of our campaign, enabling people to visualize our latest product collections on digital versions of themselves in a fun and engaging way. We see lots of potential in the Ready Player Me platform, and look forward to working with the Wolf3D team to create experiences for our customers to further engage with the brand and digital running communities.”
