There’s an enormous virtual feline stalking the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This past Sunday the Carolina Panthers took on the New York Jets in their first competitive game of the 2021 season. After an intense back-and-forth, the Panthers managed to bring it home with a 19-14 victory over the Jets. Regardless of the teams’ solid performance, however, all anyone seems to be able to talk about was the virtual big cat prowling throughout the stadium.
Those in attendance at Sunday’s game were treated to a mixed reality spectacle that included an enormous virtual panther skulking menacingly throughout the Bank of America Stadium. 70,000 fans watched as the digital feline leaped from the center of the stadium and up onto the Jumbotron. At one point the panther used its teeth to rip down a mixed reality Jets flag before tearing it to shreds on the field.
According to a report by Mashable, the experience was developed by virtual events and mixed reality specialist The Famous Group, the same team behind a similar mixed reality experience employed by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2019. Whereas the Carolina Panthers have a massive panther, the Ravens’ experience featured an enormous mixed reality raven fluttering throughout the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.
So far the comments are pretty hilarious:
