Work with your team to claim the last remnants of humanity in this fast-paced 5v5 shooter.
In the not-so-distant future, a large portion of humanity has vacated the Earth in search of a new life aboard the Colony, an orbiting facility they believe will serve as a springboard for human civilization. In an effort to preserve Earth’s history, these Colonists will return frequently to their former planet to digitize cultural artifacts and heritage sites.
Unfortunately, these sites are now under the protection of REYAB, a massive conglomerate that has asserted the rights to everything that’s been left behind on the planet. Those who chose to stay on Earth now work as contractors for this powerful organization, believing it their duty to maintain their holdings.
This is the premise of VAIL VR, an upcoming online-multiplayer VR shooter from AEXLAB where you must choose between fighting for the Colonist or the REYAB. Once you’ve chosen a side, you’ll go head-to-head in hyper-realistic 5v5 battles centered around tactical gunplay and team collaboration.
One of the most interesting features is the full-body animation. VAIL VR delivers an accurate approximation of your real world body without using additional tracking hardware, promising a more comfortable in-headset experience.
In an official press release, Jonathan Ovadia, CEO of AEXLAB said, “We believe VAIL set the foundation for the next generation of first-person shooting games. It’s in virtual reality, multiplayer, incredibly fine-tuned, and realistic,” adding, “While we’ve seen realistic VR shooters in the past, none bring them to a tactical, multiplayer experience with this level of combat. We believe VAIL moves the needle forward.”
VAIL VR features two game modes: Team Deathmatch and Artifact. Team Deathmatch has two teams of five going head-to-head in an effort to earn the most kills within a set perdiod of time. Artifact, on the other hand, is the core of VAIL VR’s gameplay. In this mode, you can showcase your combat gaming skills through a full-scale ELO ranking system, automated tournaments, and ladder structure.
The game also features an in-game voice chat system for real-time communication between you and other players, whether it be calling out enemy locations or talking serious smack.
Elizabeth Ann Clark, Co-Founder/Chief Creative Officer at AEXLAB, talked about their approach to VAIL VR in a video, saying, “As a lifetime gamer there’s something I’ve realized that’s always been missing, and that is that sense of presence. Here at AEXLAB we’re creating that sense of presence and allowing people to connect in a fully immersive social way.”
If you’re interested in learning more, VAIL VR is currently hosting a closed alpha program. Interested Colonists and REYAB’s can request access via the official Steam page. You can also join the VAIL VR discussion on Discord.
