Meta’s VR program for developers also received a new name: Oculus Publishing.
Its been roughly a decade since the foundation of the original Oculus Content Team and so far Meta has spent hundreds of millions funding third-party content and development, supporting the launch of hit titles such as Among Us VR, Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, Bonelab, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners just to name a few.
In addition to the 300 titles the company has funded since the Quest launched in 2019, Meta this week announced that 150 new third-party games and apps are currently in active development.
The company’s VR program for developers also received a new name: Oculus Publishing. A companion program to the first-party label Oculus Studios, Oculus Publishing assists its partners with funding, production, marketing, and various other important aspects of game and app development in an effort to support the growing VR community.
“From humble beginnings alongside the most visionary developers in 2013, it’s amazing to see that there are now more than 500 titles available on the Meta Quest Store,” said Aaron Davies, head of content strategy at Oculus Publishing. “Over $1.5 billion has been spent on games and apps, with 40 titles grossing more than $10 million in revenue. Further, the number of titles at the $20 million mark has doubled year over year.”
“It’s a thrilling past, a compelling present, and a bright future alongside our expanding friends and partners of Oculus Publishing!,” he added.
