Make the halls of Khazad-dûmc your home.
Another month, another software update for the Meta Quest VR headset. Update v46 introduces a variety of improvements to Quest hardware. This includes additional privacy settings as well as a new way to access your recent apps.
However, the real excitement is around the new Lord of the Rings-inspired Horizon Home. For those out of the loop, Horizon Home serves as a personal space where Quest users can browse the Quest Store, adjust their settings, launch games and apps, and more.
The Quest currently features a handful of different Home environments to choose from. This includes everything from a cozy ski lodge and zen garden to an out-of-this-world space station and cyberpunk living room.
Now it appears as though we can add the legendary city of Khazad-dûmc to that list. Beginning October 10th, you can log in to your Quest headset to find a Home environment inspired by the new Amazon Prime show The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. According to Meta, this new Home environment will only be available for a limited time, so you’ll need to move quickly.
Update v46 introduces new privacy settings as well. After installing the new update, you’ll be asked to confirm a few basic privacy settings (who can see you’re online, what you’re playing, etc.). You’ll also now be able to adjust these settings for individual apps.
The search tool has also received some love in the form of optimized search results. Anything you’ve searched for previously will also appear higher up in the results.
Last but not least, the v46 update makes it easier to access your favorite games and apps. Your Quest’s dock will now feature your three most recent apps, further streamlining app navigation on Quest.
Update v46 arrives on October 10th. For more information visit here.
