Learn ancient Valyrian and command an army of beasts with voice commands.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, the new Game of Thrones prequel series House of Dragons is set to debut next month on HBO, offering fans a fresh take on the iconic fantasy universe. Ahead of the highly-anticipated premiere, HBO has released House of the Dragon: DracARys, a new augmented reality (AR) app for smartphones that lets you take command of the most ferocious beasts in Westeros.
Using your smartphone’s camera, you can project virtual dragons over the real world and control their actions using a series of voice commands. This will require you to learn a few keywords in Valyrian, the fictional language used by House Targaryen.
Each dragon you hatch will feature its own unique appearance and personality. Think of it like a Tamagotchi; a fire-breathing, meat-eating Tamagotchi…
“When the dragons of Westeros appear on the show it’s always a breath-taking, awe-inspiring moment,” said Kevin Young, lead creative on the game. “With DracARys we wanted users to experience those moments of awe and wonder in the context of their everyday lives.”
“Our ambitions are to complement the world of Westeros and the mythology of the show in an enriching way, while pushing the boundaries of what is possible with virtual characters existing in mixed realities.”
House of the Dragon: DracARys is available free to download on iOS and Android devices.
