“Game over, man. Game over!”
Survios, the same team behind popular VR games such as Sprint Vector and Creed: Rise to Glory, has partnered with 20th Century Studios to bring the legendary film studio’s iconic Aliens franchise to VR.
Details are light at the moment. What we do know is that the single-player action-horror experience will feature a new story set in the Aliens universe. More information will supposedly be revealed later this month during the Alien: Expanding a Dark and Frightening Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
“When I joined Survios in 2020, it was to build bigger, more ambitious games, using the best entertainment franchises across console, PC, and VR platforms,” said TQ Jefferson, Chief Product Officer at Survios, in an official press release. “Aliens is a distinct and terrifying world that fans love to be entrenched in, and it is perfect for Survios’ proven expertise in creating immersive gaming experiences.”
“The vast universe of Alien is full of untold stories, and opportunities to create gripping original games,” added Luigi Priore, VP of Disney, Pixar, and 20th Century Games. “We’re thrilled to work with a team like Survios who shares our passion for Alien, and for immersing fans into new worlds and experiences.”
Survios is no stranger to working on VR games based on well-known intellectual properties. The studio has developed immersive experiences for Westworld, The Walking Dead, Creed, and Puzzle Bobble. Considering its history, it makes sense that 20th Century Studios would turn to Survios to help bring one of its biggest franchises to life in VR.
Let’s just hope the studio chose to leave facehuggers out of the experience…
