Bulletstorm VR has been delayed, with a new release date set for early 2024.
Initially slated for release on PSVR 2, Quest and PC VR headsets on December 14, Bulletstorm VR will now release a few weeks later on January 18, 2024.
Incuvo is handling development of Bulletstorm VR, making this their second flatscreen-to-VR adaptation after Green Hell VR. Meanwhile People Can Fly, the studio behind the original flatscreen version of Bulletstorm, is handling publishing duties for this new VR version.
The studios issued a joint statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) explaining the delay:
People Can Fly and Incuvo have made the tough decision to delay the release of Bulletstorm VR to January 18, 2024.
We know that Bulletstorm fans are eager to put on their VR headsets and kick ass in virtual reality. We aim to use this extra time to continue improving the experience to ensure that Bulletstorm VR lives up to the high standards you’ve come to expect from the well-known AAA FPS franchise and People Can Fly as a developer of high-quality AAA games.
We are incredibly thankful to our fans for their support and passion surrounding the Bullet.storm series and deeply appreciate everyone’s patience.
Thank you.
It’s nonetheless going to be a stacked holiday season for VR releases. With Assassin’s Creed Nexus now available on Quest, there’s Stranger Things VR, Asgard’s Wrath 2, Arizona Sunshine 2, Sniper Elite VR: Winter Warrior and many more releases to come over the next few weeks. Perhaps pushing into 2024 will give Bulletstorm VR a bit more breathing room when it releases mid January.
