Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom is a new VR interactive anime film, and it’s coming to Quest.
A collaboration between Bandai Namco Filmworks and Atlas V, Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom was revealed today at Anime NYC 2023. “This is not a game, nor is it just a narrative experience—it’s an immersive adventure that leverages the best of both worlds,” says Pierre Zandrowicz, Atlas V Co-Founder in a prepared statement. Not much else is currently known about Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom, though publisher Astrea Immersive states there will be a “special unveiling” at this month’s Gundam Fan e-Festival. Until then, here’s an official outline:
In this immersive anime, you’ll be able to experience the Gundam world like never before, with immersive visuals and interactive elements that bring the epic saga to life. The narrative-driven experience promises to deliver a unique journey through the Gundam universe, offering fans a new way to connect.
This isn’t the first time Gundam’s come to VR, though it’s been restricted to Japanese location-based experiences. 2016 saw Gundam VR: Daiba Assault premiere in Tokyo, while Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Sortie arrived the following year with a brief release at the Shinjuku Picadilly Theater.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom doesn’t have a confirmed release window for the Meta Quest platform, but we’ll update this article if we learn anything further.
