Void Room’s procedurally-generated experience finally arrives on PC VR via Steam and Meta Quest via App Lab.
After years of development, Void Room’s room-scale VR game Tea For God has finally been released on Meta Quest and PC VR headsets.
In this one-of-a-kind VR experience, players navigate a labyrinth of impossible environments using their own two feet while battling waves of robotic enemies. Everything is procedurally generated, which means no two playthroughs are ever the same. Enemies and traps will appear in different locations, environments will shift, etc.
What makes the game so memorable, however, is its unique locomotion system. Instead of using your joystick (though the option remains available), you navigate the virtual environment by physically moving around your real-world space. Tea For God takes into account the amount of space you have available and creates physically-impossible environments using non-euclidian geometry.
Here’s the game’s official description: “In the distant future, humankind has been united, ruled by God Emperor. Endowed with advanced technology we reached stars, colonized new worlds, went onto endless crusades against myriads of civilizations.”
“A man who lost his family, who holds God Emperor accountable for their death, seeking answers and vengeance, embarks onto his last journey to the place no human has ever left alive, where God Emperor is believed to reside.”
According to the game’s developer, Void Room, this latest release features several game modes designed to provide a different gameplay experience depending on your mood. You can take a casual stroll and enjoy the scenery, battle enemies like an arcade shooter, or immersive yourself in a rogue-lite-shooter experience.
“It all started with an idea about the movement for VR. And lots of different inspirations,” said Jarek Ciupiński of Void Room in a post on Reddit. The game has changed on the way and it is not the end of it. I will be developing Tea For God further, adding new content, and most importantly – the endless mode.”
We’ve been big fans of Tea For God since testing out the demo years ago and are beyond excited that more players will get the chance to experience this truly one-of-a-kind immersive experience. From the unique storyline to the revolutionary locomotion mechanics and abstract environmental design, Tea For God is a must-try.
Tea For God is available now for $19.99 on Meta Quest via App Lab and PC VR headsets via Steam. You can also try a free demo before you buy. For more information visit voidroom.com.
