Wallace and Gromit in the Grand Getaway brings the iconic British duo to VR, releasing this year on Quest.
Co-developed by Aardman and Madrid Noir studio Atlas V, The Grand Getaway appears reminiscent of the duo’s original adventure in 1989, A Grand Day Out. Arriving on an alien world with Wallace’s spaceship looking worse for wear, we got a first look at this upcoming VR adventure during the Future Games Show’s VR Spotlight. You can watch the new teaser trailer below:
We’ve previously heard about Aardman’s new venture into VR, which followed on from an AR game back in 2021, though this is the first substantial look we’ve had at The Grand Getaway. You can read the previously released story outline below:
In ‘The Grand Getaway’, holidays are in the offing for Wallace and Gromit. Sun, sand, and the chance to test out their latest contraption, Auto-Caddy. But Wallace has his dates mixed up – they have to be on the other side of the country in just half an hour! There’s only one thing for it… they’ll take the Rocket. But a mishap with the controls sends Wallace, Gromit and Auto-Caddy hurtling off course. Will this be a holiday to remember
No specific release was confirmed but Wallace and Gromit in the Grand Getaway arrives in 2023 for the Meta Quest platform.
