Embark on a comic book-style adventure filled with arcade-style combat and puzzles.
Since the premiere of the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, pirate-themed entertainment has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity, not unlike that of the zombie and horror genres. This extends not only to film & television but the immersive entertainment industry as well.
This is where Crimen – Mercenary comes in. Brought to us by the award-winning VR developer Carbon Studios (The Wizards series, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall), this narrative-driven single-player adventure game has you playing the role of a swashbuckling mercenary armed to the teeth with deadly 17-century weaponry, including the classic cutlass and pistol.
The comedic adventure is broken up into eight unique chapters, each of which is narrated by a different charismatic character. Based on the trailer, you can expect to battle a wide variety of enemies—including the undead—throughout a variety of authentic European locations, including sunken shipwrecks, unsettling castles, and ancient temples just to name a few.
The following is a more detailed list of features (as provided by Carbon Studios):
- “Action-packed, gory arcade slasher that distinguishes us from conventional physics-driven VR games
- Eight hilarious escapades narrated by a cast of eight charismatic personalities
- Attractive and vibrant comic-inspired graphics
- Abundant humor, hidden surprises, and nods to popular culture
- A wide array of authentic 17th-century European weapons and settings
- Engaging Slavic folk music score composed by the talented Arkadiusz Reikowski”
“Crimen – Mercenary Tales brings a vivid and colorful world to life before your eyes,” said the developer in an official release. “As you venture into the game, you’ll encounter the lively tavern’s patrons, who regale you with their mercenary humor and outrageous accomplishments. These larger-than-life characters and their entertaining stories add a delightful and engaging layer to the gameplay, keeping you enthralled and amused throughout your journey.”
According to Carbon Studios, Crimen – Mercenary Tales will be available soon on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro VR headsets. For more information visit crimen-vr.com.
