Create your very own motorsports events in this upcoming VR racing game.
There’s a criminally small amount of quality racing games available on Meta Quest 2. Perhaps that’s why I was so excited to hear that Codemasters’ arcade racing game GRID Legends will soon be available to play in VR on Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets.
Originally released on PC and consoles this past August, GRID Legends lets you step behind the wheel of legendary automobiles and compete on a variety of real-life circuits and street tracks throughout cities such as San Fransisco, Paris, and London. It’s also the first game in the series to feature a dedicated story mode, which is inspired by the popular Netflix series Formula 1: Drive to Survive.
According to the game’s listing, GRID Legends for Quest 2 will feature the story-focused career mode, “Drive to Glory,” as well as online multiplayer (no cross-platform play). There’s also a dedicated Race Creator where you can design your own motorsports event for you and your friends.
GRID Legends will launch on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro on January 12th, 2023 for $29.99. That said, you can pre-order the game now for 10% off.
EA’s Codemasters is the same developer behind F1 22, which received official VR support at launch last year. Those with PC VR headsets have suffered no shortage of quality VR racing games, whether it be F1 22, Project CARS, iRacing, or Assetto Corsa. That said, it’s exciting to see more serious racing sims begin to make their way to Quest 2 and Quest Pro.
