In the future, you’ll be able to access a massive catalog of console games from your VR headset.
Meta Connect 2022 featured no shortage of major announcements. Not only did we get our first official look at the highly-anticipated Meta Quest Pro, but we also learned of several new games heading to Quest 2 and Quest Pro VR headsets, such as Marvel’s Iron Man VR and I Expect You To Die: Home Sweet Home.
Just as exciting was the announcement of Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) for the Meta Quest platform. In the future, you’ll be able to connect an Xbox controller to your Quest headset and play cloud-compatible games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library on a large screen in VR. The reveal was made by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella during Connect.
“We’re partnering with Microsoft to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) to the Meta Quest Store in the future”, said the company in an official release. “We’re not announcing a launch date for Xbox Cloud Gaming on the Quest Store, but we’ll share more details as soon as possible.”
No word when this feature will be available. That said, I’ll be eagerly awaiting the day. The ability to easily access cloud-compatible Xbox Games Pass games using only a Quest headset, Xbox controller, and a steady internet connection could make the Quest an even more attractive option for those deciding on which system to spend their hard-earned money on.
