The virtual exhibition will include Kojima Productions, Square Enix, Capcom, and others.
The annual Tokyo Game Show is set to return next month in Chiba, Japan, offering attendees a closer look at a variety of highly-anticipated video games. Alongside the standard in-person event, organizers will once again host a virtual exhibition visitors can attend remotely.
Details are light at the moment, but according to the official website, the stage for the virtual show will be some sort of ‘dungeon.’ The event itself will feature a number of recognizable studios, including Konami Productions, Capcom, Square Enix, and others.
“Makuhari Messe is the venue for TGS VR in 2022,” says the website. “But what is there on the opening day is an empty hall and a big hole in the floor. Why is there nothing in the hall? What is at the bottom of the deep hole? Unearth the future at the “GAME STOPE.”
As for what fans can expect from the event, participating exhibitors are remaining tight-lipped. Earlier this year, rumors began circulating about a PlayStation VR2 game in development at Kojima Productions. This past June, Kojima himself confirmed the studio is collaborating with Microsoft on a new type of video game “no one has ever experienced.”
Tokyo Game Show VR 2022 takes place September 15th – 18th. Those interested in attending the virtual event can fill out an application here.
