Sony confirmed The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution is coming to both the original PSVR headset and PSVR 2.
While not a huge surprise, the upcoming follow-up to the 2020 title will release on both the original and upcoming PSVR headsets alongside PC VR and Quest 2. The announcement was made during Sony’s State of Play presentation, accompanied by a new trailer, showcasing more footage and including a better look at the new chainsaw weapon.
In a blog post following the trailer shown at State of Play, developer Skydance confirmed even more details about the game, including additions to your arsenal and the ability to dangerously venture into the city during the night. Other reveals include silencers that you can use to take down zombies without being detected, and new guns such as an SMG and sawed-off shotgun. Of course, the original trailer for the game already confirmed that you’ll be wielding a chainsaw, too.
“While there are many surprises that we will have to save for later in the year, we’ll dive into some of the key differences you can expect which will make Retribution a worthy sequel and advancement of the groundwork set in Saints & Sinners,” the blog reads.
The post also confirmed that Chapter 2 will release for the original PSVR headset late this year, while a PSVR 2 release will come in 2023. While we still don’t have a release date for the PSVR 2 headset itself, a 2022 release is looking increasingly unlikely amid reports of delays. A 2023 target for PSVR 2 now seems like the most likely option, especially given the Saints & Sinners release window.
Stay tuned for more PSVR 2 news to come.
