Breed your own virtual pets in this upcoming location-based AR game.
AR developer Niantic, the same team behind popular titles such as Pokémon GO and Pikmin Bloom, today announced its first original AR (augmented reality) game, Peridot. Similar to The Tamagotchohi, this “real-world AR mobile game” tasks players with breeding and caring for bite-sized virtual creatures referred to as Peridots, aka “Dots.”
According to an official blog post, you’ll care for these mysterious creatures from birth to adulthood. Along the way, you’ll build a relationship with your digital companion as you explore various real-world locations. In addition to feeding and playing with your Dot, you’ll also have the ability to breed new generations by discovering new Peridot archetypes.
“You’ll foster your own Peridots as you embark on this experience. These are creatures who feel so real, you’ll love every moment raising them from birth to adulthood,” said Ziah Fogel, Senior Producer in the blog post. “While you explore the world together, you’ll get to learn more about your cute new friends, develop a bond as you nurture and play with them, and work with other players to diversify their species.”
Peridots is currently still in development. For more information on how to pre-register or signup for the newsletter visit here.
