Meta wants to turn Tuesday nights into VR game nights.
Meta has officially announced Quest Night, a weekly game night dedicated to all things Quest. Starting next Tuesday and every Tuesday following, the company is encouraging Quest players to meet up online for some good old-fashioned multiplayer gaming.
Obviously, the company hopes you and your friends log on to your favorite games and apps throughout the week. It sounds as though Quest Night is just a means for encouraging group VR gaming on Quest.
“Remember game nights? Friends all sitting around a table as they eat snacks, excitedly scream at each other, and most importantly, play a few games together. It was a beautiful mess. And it’s about to get taken up a notch,” said the company in an official blog update.
“Quest Night” is “game night” evolved. But now, your friends can be anywhere in the world. And you’re inside the game. And there’s a million more games. And no mess to clean up when it’s all over. Just throw on a headset, invite your party, and get competitive in minutes. We’re claiming Tuesdays as Quest Nights.“
To celebrate the announcement, Meta has released a new trailer showcasing a handful of VR party games perfect for celebrating game night, including Demeo, Walkabout Minigolf, and PokerStars VR. In terms of fun, you can’t go wrong with any of the above-mentioned games. That said, here’s a small list of VR party games we recommend for those on Quest:
- After the Fall – If you’re a fan of co-op shooters like Left 4 Dead, you and your buddies will definitely want to check out After the Fall. This extra-gory VR co-op game has you and three other teammates battling hordes of undead creatures throughout post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.
- Echo Arena – An oldie but a classic, Echo Arena pits two teams against one another in a zero-g game of ultimate frisbee. The goal is simple, work together with your teammates to score points by tossing the neon disk into your opponents net. The best part is it’s free.
- Horizon Worlds – Meta’s social VR platform has only been in open beta a few months and already the company’s metaverse is chock full of incredible games and apps created by the players themselves. There are nightclubs, comedy venues, first-person shooter games, even talent contests and a dating show; all for the low, low price of $0.00.
- Zenith: The Last City – Finally, a masssively-multiplayer online game tailor-made for VR headsets. You can team up with friends and take on huge bosses, craft powerful weapons and items, cook food, and explore a magical world by flying, climbing, swimming, and ziplining.
