Based on the footage provided, it appears as though players will take on the role of a tentacled beast.
Popular video game publisher Devolver Digital is working on a new VR game in collaboration with indie game developer Firepunchd. Earlier today, Devolver shared a video on Twitter teasing Lakalma, a vibrant island town inhabited by an adorable community of pint-sized residents.
As explained by the David Attenborough-esque narrator, Lakalma is also home to a mysterious sea creature referred to by the islanders as “The Monster.”
Based on the footage provided, it appears as though players will be taking on the role of this mysterious tentacled beast, using their motion controllers to interact with the environment and possibly even the residents themselves. Digging through Firepunchd’s Twitter, we found several videos showcasing various tentacle-based interactions.
Information is light at the moment but based on the footage provided; we still don’t know which VR platforms the game will support. That said, it looks as though Tectactular VR, as Firepunchd refers to it, will feature Devolver Digital’s signature tongue-in-cheek humor. The publisher promises more information over the course of this week.
Devolver Digital is the same publisher behind popular VR experiences such as GORN and Serious Sam VR. The company has never been afraid to break the status quo with its one-of-a-kind gameplay mechanics and unique comedic approach. We’re looking forward to learning more about this hilarious-looking VR experience.
