Birdie Wing is not only the first-ever anime released on Viveport, but the first original anime featuring women’s golf.
HTC’s VR platform Viveport is spreading its wings with the announcement of BIRDIE WING – Golf Girls’ Story, an original anime developed in collaboration with Bandai Namco Pictures. The two companies gave anime fans a sneak peek of the new show last week with the launch of its first official trailer.
Inagaki Takauki, the producer of Ninja Box and Sunabouze (Desert Punk), is listed as BIRDIE WING’s producer with Kuroda Yosuke, producer of Robo Fighter Steel Bullet 00 and My Hero Academy, serving as the show script coordinator.
This new project between Viveport and Bandai Namco Pictures will not only be the first anime IP that Viveport has invested in, but it will also be the world’s first original anime to feature women’s golf. In an official press release, Joseph Lin, General Manager of Viveport said, “BIRDIE WING is an important milestone for our Viverse strategy, and together with Viveport INFINITY, the world’s only subscription-based VR content platform, our content ecosystem in the metaverse era is taking form.”
For Bandai Namco Pictures (BNP), this collaboration is just the beginning of something much larger for Viveport. Ozaki Masayuki, President, and CEO of Bandai Namco Pictures said, “We have always been devoted to original IP works, and this original women’s golf production is just the first step. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with Viveport to bring consumers around the world an unparalleled animation experience that goes beyond 2D.”
This collaboration not only opens up new doors for the two companies but highlights the incredible possibilities that can be created through VR content partnerships. Through this collaboration with BNP, Viveport will be able to find new revenue streams through fun virtual entertainment opportunities made for mobile and social VR platforms.
The excitement doesn’t end there, however. In addition to their new business venture with BNP, Viveport has also expanded into the art world. Back in September, Viveport launched Step into Cat Art Online Exhibition, a virtual art show featuring Shu Yamamoto’s CAT ART. As a follow-up to that exhibit, the company has announced a new exhibition entitled A Place for Cat Art and Cat Creativity.
This new space will let any visitor with a VR headset create their own 3D cat painting with others, providing a cool immersive and collaborative VR experience impossible to replicate in a traditional physical exhibition. In addition to A Place for Cat Art and Cat Creativity, Viveport also created a new secret chamber within Yamamoto’s CAT ART exhibition to get people to revisit the exhibition. That addition is now available for visitors worldwide to explore.
Tickets for the Step into Cat Art Online Exhibition are available on its official website. Anyone who purchases a ticket can visit this exhibition an unlimited number of times on different devices using the same account for the duration of the exhibition period.
Just recently, HTC announced that it will be opening its own NFT store featuring the artwork of world-renowned Czech artist Alphonse Mucha.
