Master Chief pays a visit to the Oregon Ducks.
During yesterday’s game between rival college football teams the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State, Master Chief, the main protagonist of the legendary Halo franchise, stopped by to promote his latest upcoming adventure, Halo Infinite.
During the game, fans watched via the jumbotron as a mixed reality Pelican, one of the many fictional vehicles featured in the series, swooped in from above and hovered gently over center field. After a brief pause, the tactical aerospace lifter deployed a hologram displaying the logo for Halo Infinite, the latest addition to the award-winning franchise, followed by the Oregon Ducks symbol.
After a few moments in the spotlight, the hologram fades away and the Pelican takes off. If you look closely, you can also spot the bioengineered supersoldier himself, John-117—aka Master Chief—standing on the sidelines overseeing the transport.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen immersive technology used during a live sporting event. This past September, the Carolina Panthers debuted a mixed reality panther during a matchup with the New York Jets. Before that, the Baltimore Ravens showcased its own mixed reality raven.
Halo Infinite is set to launch on Xbox and PC on December 3rd.
