A leaked video confirms the arrival of the popular game mode.
Last month Resident Evil 4 VR launched on Oculus (Meta) Quest 2 headsets. In this brilliant VR adaptation of the legendary 2005 action-horror game, players take on the role of special agent Leon S. Kennedy and infiltrate a demonic cult in search of the President’s missing daughter.
In addition to the main campaign, the original game featured a timed minigame called “The Mercenaries,” which tasked players with wracking up points by killing enemies before an evacuation chopper arrives. Unfortunately, this unlockable game mode was missing from Resident Evil 4 VR, along with two additional campaigns featuring the mysterious Ada Wong. According to a recently leaked video, however, that could soon change.
First reported by Biohazard Cast, Oculus yesterday uploaded a video to its official YouTube channel confirming the arrival of the popular game mode on Quest 2 sometime next year. The video was recently hidden by the company, though a link to the unlisted upload has since been discovered by several eagle-eyed Twitter users, as pointed out by Upload. Biohazard Cast also uploaded its own copy of the video here. As for the Ada Wong DLC, we’ll just have to wait and see.
For those who’ve yet to play Resident Evil 4 VR, I highly recommend you take the plunge. Armature Studios’ wonderfully-crafted port is easily one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had in a VR headset. The gameplay translates perfectly to VR, whether you’re gunning down parasitic monstrosities from a distance using an arsenal of devastating weaponry or getting up-close-and-personal with your knife. Here’s hoping RE4 VR is just the first in a long line of classic game ports.
Resident Evil 4 VR is available now on Quest 2 headsets for $39.99.
