Work alongside the Ghostbusters to save the world from a ghostly apocalypse.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife ScARe uses AR technology to immerse you deep in Sony Pictures’ new movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, as one of the legendary Ghostbusters. , you’ll defend your real-world surroundings from the oncoming apocalypse by strapping on a proton pack and battling supernatural entities.
When you’re not trapping ghosts, you’ll be interacting with different characters and solving 3D puzzles in AR in order to find hidden clues. As you progress through the game you’ll unlock unlicensed nuclear-powered equipment you can add to your ghostbusting arsenal.
Created by Imprezario Entertainment, Ghostbusters: Afterlife ScARe is much more than a simple mobile game. It takes advantage of your phone’s camera, haptics, touch screen, LED light, ASMR audio, (headphones highly recommended), and other features to immerse you in a full-body interactive experience that has you physically ducking and dodging incoming slime attacks.
Move too slow and you’ll find yourself wiping ectoplasmic residue off of your phone’s screen. So be ready to run, jump, duck, tap, and swipe at all times!
Your ghostbusting adventure will also have you solving an ESP test puzzle in order to collect and earn the nuclear energy cells that power your equipment. Screw up and you’ll face some rather “shocking” consequences.
“I’m always interested in new ways to tell stories and I’m thrilled to see the Ghostbusters mythology expand into the AR front. Ghostbusters: Afterlife has always been about the Ghostbuster in all of us that wants to pick up the proton pack and this is a chance for fans of the new film to join Phoebe and the gang for a new adventure,” said co-writer and director Jason Reitman.
Throughout your ghostly adventure, you’ll be joined by fellow Ghostbusters as you band together in a high-tech battle against pure evil. This includes some of the stars of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, and Dan Aykroyd reprise their roles in the film to offer some assistance.
The game design comes from master magician, writer, and producer, David Kwong, who crafted the interactive in-game elements of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Kwong is well known for developing intricate puzzles and illusions for films like Now You See Me, The Imitation Game, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
The first two episodes of Ghostbusters: Afterlife ScARe gameplay will be available for free beginning November 19th, with additional episodes available for purchase. New episodes are scheduled for release in the months after launch. Imprezario CEO and the game’s director, Brett Tomberlin, added, “All episodes will incorporate the most convincing level of AR content, it is our hope we offer a generation of both past and future Ghostbusters a gateway to another dimension.”
Ghostbusters: Afterlife ScARe will be available on both iOS and Android devices.
