Shred the virtual gnar in this arcade snowboarding experience from Giles Goddard and developer Chuhai Labs.

Yesterday’s Oculus Gaming Showcase featured several exciting reveals as well as long-awaited updates on highly-anticipated titles such as Lone Echo II, Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge, and I Expect You To Die 2.

Amid all the excitement, Oculus revealed a never-before-seen title for the Oculus Quest, Carve Snowboarding. Brought to us by Giles Goddard—the mind behind the Nintendo 64 classic 1080° Snowboarding—and Kyoto-based developer Chuhai Labs, this arcade-style VR snowboarding game will feature two game modes at launch: Time Attack and Freestyle.

Time Attack will have you battling it out with other players for the fastest time on the leaderboard. Freestyle, on the other hand, is all about racking up points by performing sweet tricks using the various rails and jumps scattered throughout the virtual mountain.

As you continue to shred you’ll unlock new boards, gloves, and courses, as well as unique mixtapes featuring the music of various synthwave and indie rock artists.

Personally, I’m thrilled to see another snowboarding game make its way to VR headsets. While existing titles, such as Powder VR, feature solid VR snowboarding mechanics, it’ll be interesting to see what Giles and the Chuhai team can bring to the table.

Based on the footage provided, it appears as though we can expect a more arcade-style experience, similar to that of titles such as SSX Tricky and—of course—1080° Snowboarding.
