Vertigo Games is slowly pulling back the curtain on its long-anticipated VR shooter, After The Fall, with new gameplay just shown.
The team took to the VR subreddit to showcase to quick clips of the game in GIF form. One features the player on a zip line, barrelling into a crowd of zombies. Probably not the best survival technique, that.
New After The Fall Gameplay Revealed
The other, slightly more disturbing GIF sees the enemies crawling on the ceiling, shrouded in shadow until you expose them with your flashlight. It’s a pretty unsettling clip that drives home just how creepy the final experience may end up being.
Graphically the game looks pretty similar to when we last saw it, though these clips are the first in-game footage we’ve seen of After The Fall in well over a year. Vertigo’s follow-up to Arizona Sunshine is a little like Left4Dead in VR, tasking up to four players with fighting their way through a frozen post-apocalyptic wasteland. Over in the subreddit, Vertigo confirmed that a new gameplay trailer is coming soon, and that a beta is still planned before the game’s summer 2021 launch.
The game was originally announced in 2019 and was expected to arrive sometime in 2020. But the title was delayed last November, resurfacing earlier this month with an impressive new cinematic trailer. It’s still planned for PC VR and PSVR headsets but Vertigo also says it’s coming to other platforms, possibly hinting at Windows VR, an unannounced headset or a possible Oculus Quest port.
