Transfer your 3D models before June 30th using the easy-to-use tool available free via Sketchfab.

In less than four months Google will be permanently shutting down its 3D model sharing platform Google Poly, marking the end of an era for the VR community. Originally released back in 2017, Poly quickly established itself as one of the most popular 3D artwork platforms among VR content creators, developers, and educators.

Beginning April 30th, 2021, Google Poly will cease accepting new uploads; on June 30th, 2021, the platform will shut down completely, cutting off access to any and all content uploaded to the site. This is where Poly to Sketchfab comes in.

Available now via 3D, VR, and AR content platform Sketchfab, Poly to Sketchfab is an easy-to-use tool that allows Google Poly users to transfer their 3D models directly to the Sketchfab platform 100% free-of-charge. According to Sketchfab, the team worked directly with Google to develop a pain-free solution for its users. All you have to do is connect your Google Poly and Sketchfab accounts to Poly to Sketchfab, at which point you’ll then be presented with a list of models available for transfer.

Sketchfab states that the process should work for all 3D files with the exception of those created in Google Tilt Brush and Tour Creator. Tilt Brush creators looking to preserve their 3D artwork can upload their work directly to Sketchfab using the app’s built-in Sketchfab Exporter.

To begin exporting your 3D models head to polytosketchfab.com. Remember, you only have until June 30th to save your work, so get a move on!
