The authentic 1980’s game box comes with a USB cassette tape filled with additional goodies.

Developer ARVORE’s nostalgia-fueled 2018 action-adventure game Pixel Ripped 1989 will finally be receiving a long-awaited physical release with the upcoming launch of Pixel Ripped 1989 Pink Cassette Physical Edition.

Available exclusively on PlayStation VR, this “extremely limited” Pink Cassette Edition will feature a physical copy of the game housed within a retro game box that screams 1980’s gaming. Included as part of this limited release is a Pixel Ripped-themed pink cassette USB filled with additional content such as the Pixel Ripped 1989 soundtrack, desktop wallpapers, exclusive art, and three postcards signed by the game’s director, Ana Ribeiro.

Pixel Ripped Pink Cassette Physical Edition is being limited to just 1,500 units, so you’ll want to move quickly if you plan on taking home one of those radical cassettes. Those in the UK can secure their pre-order now via the Perp Games Store for £29.99. Anyone who misses out on the Pink Cassette edition can pick up a standard physical edition for £19.89 anytime via the Perp Games Store; this does not include the 1980’s game box or pink USB cassette tape. Both editions are set to arrive on April 12th.

“This is an incredibly exciting milestone for the Perp Games Store. We know fans have been eager to learn more about our plans with Pixel Ripped 1989 and the Pink Cassette Edition is something we can’t wait to share with you when it releases this April 12,” said Mickey Torode of publisher Perp Games in an official release.

For those unfamiliar with the award-winning VR shooter/platformer, Pixel Ripped 1989 has you playing the role of 2nd Grade Student Nicola as she teams up with video game hero Dot to stop the evil Cyblin Lord from taking over both their worlds using the power of 8-bit gaming.

The game features an entertaining mix of modern first-person shooter mechanics and classic 2D platforming, whether it be throwing objects to distract your teacher while you save the world via your handheld gaming device, or controlling Dot as she navigates a gauntlet of old-school 2D game worlds.
