Looking for the new VR games February 2021 list? We’ve got you covered!
Last month saw the likes of Hitman 3 on PSVR, Battlescar, Mare, GORN on Quest and a few others, but it looks like February isn’t going to be as fast-paced, so here’s the pretty short list of what to expect this month in VR.
New VR Games February 2021
Hyper Dash (February) – Triangle Factory – Quest, PC VR
First up is Triangle Factory’s Hyper Dash, which is the next game to get a full launch on the Oculus Store sometime this month after initially debuting on SideQuest last year. Hyper Dash is a 5v5 arena-based multiplayer title — similar to Solaris or 2019’s RIGS — which not only has cross-play but cross-buy for Rift and Quest. There are four multiplayer modes and dedicated servers, as well as an offline option with bots. SteamVR will also be seeing Hyper Dash sometime early this year, but again we don’t have a specific date.
Altdeus: Beyond Chronos (February 19th) – MyDearest, PC VR
VR visual novel, Altdeus: Beyond Chronos, saw success on Oculus Quest following its release in December, and now it’ll be coming to PC VR on February 19th. Altdeus boasts a 15-20 hour story with branching narrative points, and it even includes both English and Japanese voice acting options. In our review which you can read below, we said that despite minimal interactivity, developer MyDearest has done a great job on ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos, proving that visual novels can work in virtual reality and it’s clear they took onboard feedback from Tokyo Chronos.
PSVR owners can expect Altdeus to arrive in April.
Steam Game Festival (February 3rd – 6th)
Although we can’t report on any other specific games coming out this month, there are two events where you can try out demos of upcoming titles, starting with the Steam Game Festival on the 3rd! You’ll have just under a week to try out new VR games, and just for an idea of what kinds of games you’ll get, past events saw Blunt Force, Naau, Rinlo and Hard Bullet.
Sundance 2021 (Ends February 3rd)
The other event to keep an eye out for is the Sundance film festival which has put VR at the forefront with its New Frontier program – but you’re going to have to act fast because it ends on the 3rd! Where previous years saw festival-goers flock to Salt Lake City in Utah, this year it’s all happening inside VR with the help of Facebook.
You’ll have to get the explorer pass to view the VR films plus pretty much everything including their social vr platform for 25 bucks – the single film ticket doesn’t include any of the VR submissions. One film you can expect to see is Baobab’s latest VR film, Namoo, which is an immersive film centered around one tree that follows the meaningful moments of one man’s life.
