You’ll need an RTX2080 and over 160GB to get the most out of this WII epic.
We’re just a few days away from the release of Oculus Studios and Respawn Entertainment’s ambitious WWII VR shooter, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, on Oculus and SteamVR headsets. Featuring a massive 50-mission campaign and fast-paced competitive multiplayer, Above and Beyond will have you traveling throughout war-torn Europe as you engage in large-scale VR battles across land, sea, and air.
This past week, Oculus Studios producer Mike Doran shared new information regarding the recommended system requirements, and boy are people upset.
In a post shared to Reddit, Doran listed the following recommended specifications for the upcoming title:
- CPU: Intel i7 9700K (or comparable AMD)
- RAM: 16GB DDR4
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA RTX 2080
Of course, these are just the specifications recommended by the company for the ideal game experience. Those with lower-end hardware may still have the ability to run the game, albeit with occasional performance issues. Doran also notes the importance of using an SSD over a HDD.
“YES, this is a high spec. That doesn’t mean that you can’t run it on lower hardware, but you might notice some more hitching / framerate dips,” states Doran in the post. “And whatever you do, please make sure you use an SSD to play this game.”
According to Doran, the game will require over 160GB of storage to install; twice that to unpack and download the game files. To put things in perspective, Valve’s Half-Life: Alyx requires only 67GB. Players will have the ability to choose between four different graphics settings: Low, Medium, High, and Dynamic. Unfortunately, Doran states there will be little in the way of individual settings.
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond launches December 11th on Oculus Rift/Rift S and SteamVR headsets. Despite being less than a week away from launch there’s still no word on an official price.
