Spooky new maps, character skins, and gameplay enhancements arrive ahead of All Hallows’ Eve.
Resolution Games (Blaston, Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale, Wonderglade), today announced a slew of extra spooky updates heading to Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs and ACRON: Attack of the Squirrels in celebration of the upcoming Halloween season. This includes creepy new levels, haunted player skins, ghoulish game modes, and additional other tweaks and improvements.
Available free to all players, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs’ new Slimy Slopes area introduces an additional 13 levels, making that 91 courses in total. The third world in the Spooky Levels collection, Slimy Slopes has you once again battling the evil Dr. Frankenswine across a variety of spine-chilling environments as you bring down waves of piggies using your arsenal of colorful flying birds.
“Since we expanded the level builder tool to online this summer, players have been spending more time than ever building, playing, and sharing their own levels in Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs,” said Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games, in an official release. “We hope that fans enjoy our latest spooky update, and continue to build and share their latest creations with the Angry Birds community.”
Resolution’s multiplayer VR party game, ACRON: Attack of the Squirrels, has also received its own free update in the form of a new Halloween level, Sulky Swamp, as well as a new 1v1 game mode that pits a single squirrel against the towering tree. For those out of the loop, ACRON is a unique cross-platform party game that pits a team of squirrels operated via iOS and Android devices against a single tree controlled by a player in VR. In addition to the new map and 1v1 game mode, Resolution has also introduced official iPad support, a new multiplayer lobby experience, level selection, and the ability to taunt the tree.
“We knew that Acorn: Attack of the Squirrels! presented a unique opportunity to bring local multiplayer to VR, but we had no idea what a hit it would become and how many people would experience Acron as their introduction to virtual reality,” added Palm.
“While Acron is great to experience locally, the cross-platform functionality has made this the perfect game to connect with friends both near and far over the last few months. Now with the launch of the Quest 2, we’re excited to give players a special Halloween treat in the form of new content and updated gameplay mechanics to try out with their friends and family over the upcoming holiday seasons.”
Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is available for $14.99 via the Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, SteamVR, and Viveport.
ACRON: Attack of the Squirrels is available for $19.99 on Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, and SteamVR with support for cross-platform play. The official companion app can be downloaded on compatible iOS and Android devices free-of-charge.
